Thematic MinorsStudents may select a minor that consists of courses in one discipline or subject area (see Undergraduate Minor Requirements Reports in the General Catalog) or they may develop a thematic minor with courses from two or more disciplines/subject areas. Thematic minors are created around a central, unifying theme. See the Undergraduate Minors policy in the General Catalog for the minimum number of units required. Your major advisor must approve the thematic minor using the Thematic Minor Form. You or your advisor may print the Thematic Minor Form (pdf) in .pdf format (you may also request a form from your college dean's office).
After the form has been printed, completed with a list of courses, and approved by your major advisor, the minor may be processed in one of two ways:
Within a week of submitting the Thematic Minor Form, you should request an updated SAPR through Student Link to make sure that the thematic minor is correctly displayed. The minor may be declared prior to or at the same time you apply for degree candidacy. After the minor is declared, any adjustments or changes to your thematic minor need to be approved by your major advisor. For more information about creating your thematic minor or the approval process contact your major advisor. |
