Degree Certification Procedures for Undergraduate Students in the College of Science

A final audit of your records is done to ensure that you have completed all requirements for your degree.  If you have questions about course requirements, contact the appropriate department advisor (for your major or minor) or college advisor.

Students with majors in Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, General Biology, Geosciences, Molecular & Cellular Biology, and Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences:

Apply for graduation with your major advisor.  Print out your SAPR (Student Academic Progress Report) from Student Link and bring it to your major advisor before you register for your final semester.  During your advising appointment, your advisor will review the courses and requirements for your pre-major and major and will sign your Senior Degree Check Adjustment Form.  In addition, your major advisor will ask you to complete an Application for Degree Candidacy.  Your major advisor will review your general education course work and will sign the pink adjustment form for the College of Science Dean.  Your major advisor will send your Application and Adjustment Form over to Jenny Bravo, your Graduation Services advisor, in the Modern Languages Bldg. Room 347.  Jenny will place a $35.00 degree candidacy fee on your Bursar's account and will do a final audit of your records to ensure that you have completed all requirements for your degree.

Students with a major in Psychology:

Apply for graduation with your major advisor. Before you register for your final semester, make an appointment with your department advisor. Print out your SAPR (Student Academic Progress Report) from Student Link and take it with you. During your advising appointment, your advisor will review the courses and requirements for General Education and your major, make adjustments as appropriate, and sign your Senior Degree Check Adjustment Form. At the same time, you will complete an Application for Degree Candidacy. Psychology applications will be forwarded to Noris Montalvan, the Graduation Services advisor for Psychology. The Graduation Services advisor will place a $35.00 degree candidacy fee on your Bursar’s account. If adjustments are needed to your minor, you should take the Degree Check Adjustment Form and SAPR to the department advisor for your minor. If no adjustments are needed to your minor, there is no need for you to see your minor advisor.

Once the adjustments have been made to your course requirements, Psychology students should take the pink Degree Check Adjustment Form and SAPR to Noris Montalvan in the Education Bldg., Room 235. Your Graduation Services advisor will review University degree requirements with you and will make sure that nothing has been overlooked. She will monitor completion of all outstanding requirements until your graduation date.
