Question

A parent of one of your students calls and asks you to let them know what grade the student has received on his exam.  In response you should:

Tell the parent the grade, because parents have an automatic right to access their children's education records.

Check with the Office of the Registrar to determine whether the parent has provided written consent from the student or a notarized affidavit with a copy of the parent's most recent federal income tax return indicating the student's dependent status, before you release the grade.
