Limited Access Records
The Act limits access to the following education
records and the University is not required to disclose them to students:
- The education records of a student that contain
information on other students. The student may inspect, review, or
be informed of only the specific information about himself/herself.
- The financial records and related statements of
parents do not have to be disclosed to the students. The University
reserves the right to disclose such records to the student if the
University deems it appropriate.
- Confidential letters and confidential statements of
recommendation placed in a student's file before January 1, 1975, as
long as the statements are used only for the purposes for which they
were specifically intended.
- Confidential letters of recommendation placed in a
student's file after January 1, 1975, for the purposes of admission,
employment, and receipt of honors where the student has waived his
or her right to inspection as long as the statements are used only
for the intended purposes.
